Otto Monestier "EVA" Metal Torso Sculpture
Designed in 1972 by Italian artist and designer Otto Monestier (1918–1997), Eva is a striking work of kinetic and Op Art that was prominently exhibited at the 46th Venice Biennale. The sculpture depicts a stylized female nude torso composed of 55 mirror-polished chrome discs stacked along a central vertical spine. Reflecting the 1970s artistic philosophy of audience participation and modular design, each disc can be rotated independently by the viewer. This interactive element allows the composition to continuously morph, shifting the form from a sensual human silhouette into a highly fragmented, abstract geometric structure.
